Having just read Lois Lowrys book The Giver you gave me the question would you want your future to be decided by others.
There are many answers to this question but i think i would not like my future to be decided for me. One reason is because we are all born with a brain with the ability to think for ourselves although in modern day societies we are still not allowed to think totally for ourselves till we are 18 years old. By then it is expected that you will have the abilities to think for yourself. Its nice to be able to express your feelings of love or hate. But of course you can not show your feelings in the community in the book so they have no clue what I like or what I hate.
Although living in a Utopian community sounds like a good idea there is no freedom of anything. Say you did not want to work with the old people and you were sent there you would have no choice unless you asked for release which we later on learned was death.
After reading this book i know i could not live like that with no choices.

Can you imagine a world taken over by huge three legged steel robotic monsters called Tripods and a young boy leading the humans to victory over them? Well, this is what I think will happen in the next book of the Tripods Trilogy by John Christopher. I predict that Will becomes a commander and find the tripods have got a diabolical weapon. The Tripods might use it against them. This will hopefully bring Will, Henry and Beanpole and the other non capped people to realize they must join together and fight for their right to exit as free men. They will have too overcome fears and probably many other problems. I think Beanpole will invent things and be in charge of repairing tanks, guns, planes and ships. He will have a very important role in the army. As for Henry he will become a Lieutenant General and be under Wills leadership. The humans will fight for their freedom.

The ‘White Mountains’ novel by John Christopher begins slowly and was at first quite boring. It began with Will at home wishing he could play with his father’s watch and how a cousin takes the watch and makes Will angry. The book starts to improve and gets more interesting when Ozymandias meets Will and tells him about freedom from capping and where people live freely in the White Mountains. From this point in the book and until the novel finishes, it is quite good. It grabs your attention, especially when the Tripods are searching for Will and when the boys use the grenades to kill a Tripod. Overall, I did not really like the book but I think that many other people who have a better understanding of this type of book would enjoy it more than I did.

Freedom is having your own mind. With freedom you can do what you want, say what you want and become what you want with fear. Will does what he wants and falls in love. He comes to a crossroads by giving up his freedom for the person he loves or to keep his freedom and fight for a better life with out being controlled. At first I thought Will would give up his freedom and stay at the castle with Eloise for the rest of his life. In the end Will wanted freedom more. He could not understand why the others would not want it but felt it was right for him. The others from the castle thought the tripod came to help them but actually they came to rule the human’s. I think the author is trying to say that freedom is very powerful and that many people want in their life. Will is one of those people because he understands what it would be like without freedom.

FEAR

Last Saturday I overcame the fear of heights. So we went to Sunway Lagoon and my friend Len and his mum and dad came. Len's mom said we were going to go on the flying fox but I thought it was going to be only 2 feet off the ground. As Len and I went up the stars we discovered it was 100 feet in the air. I screamed in side myself as the person jumped off the flying fox in front of me.Then when the man was slowly strapped me in I looked down and it looked like a lot more than 100 feet. When the man told me to jump I took a very brave step. At the start it was scary because there is nothing to stand on. In the end it felt nice because of the air rushing by your ears. So now I want to go there again.
